Libraries are working harder than ever to discover new and exciting ways to work with the community. Virtual community engagement is one of those ways. Librarians nationwide have begun participating in the LocalWiki project, a grassroots effort to collect, share and open the world’s local knowledge. By adopting LocalWiki and facilitating the project, librarians are presenting community members with a tool for crowdsourcing hyper-local information. Join us for a presentation and panel discussion on how two libraries began the project in their respective communities.

Speakers:

Bill Pardue, Digital Services Librarian at Arlington Heights Memorial Library

Nitoshia L. Ford, Community Informatics Librarian at Skokie Public Library
