History in the Making: Becoming a Local History Hub

How do you begin to establish your library as a purveyor of local history? Librarians Brodie Austin and Steven Giese will share their experiences in creating Des Plaines Memory, an online local history resource. Librarians Nancy Bishop and Mary Munday will speak from their year-long experience in making Northbrook Voices, an oral history project, a reality.  Topics covered will include:

  • Project start up, development and management
  • Building community partnerships
  • Outreach (including the use of social media)
  • Technology challenges (including content management systems)
  • Panelists will offer a Q and A to participants.
