Nov 18 Program: E-Reader Boot Camp

With the recent e-readers explosion, many people are talking about the “death of the book” and wondering what it all means for libraries. Join local experts, Toby Greenwalt of Skokie Public Library and Ming Heraty of Arlington Heights Memorial Library, for a program that will answer many of your questions about e-readers and libraries. Toby will start us off by talking about the current publishing landscape and giving us tips on how to make sense of e-books, file-types, and DRM. Ming will follow with an explanation of how her library offers a successful circulating e-reader service model and a series of instructional opportunities to help patrons along the way. We will wrap-up with an opportunity for attendees to pose any questions or concerns they might have about e-readers and libraries. You can send your question in advance by completing the online form at or ask your question during the program. This topic is guaranteed to stimulate a lively discussion, so don’t miss this program!”
